Dexter: Resurrection star David Dastmalchian may have only just crossed paths with Dexter Morgan, but the show’s new villain has teased a major twist to come. Serving as the franchise’s second sequel series, and the continuation of 2021’s Dexter: New Blood, the franchise’s latest chapter sees Michael C. Hall’s titular anti-hero drawn into a secret society of serial killers.
During the new show’s fourth episode, Dastmalchian is introduced as the quietly unassuming Gareth, aka the Gemini Killer. Other members of the society include Krysten Ritter’s Lady Vengeance, Neil Patrick Harris’s Tattoo Collector and Eric Stonestreet’s Rapunzel.
Appearing at the Dexter: Resurrection panel at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, for which ScreenRant was in attendance, Dastmalchian suggested that his character will eventually present an unexpected challenge for Dexter. He also hinted that there will also be a twist involved that he can not wait for audiences to experience. Check out his comments below:
[Gareth gets to present] wonderful challenges for Dexter himself… I can’t wait for you to see the twist.
Dexter’s New Antagonist Could Be The First To Uncover His Secret
As the quietest and most reserved of billionaire Leon Prater’s society of serial killers, audiences have not learned much about Dastmalchian’s Gemini Killer. However, Dastmalchian’s latest comments would suggest that there is much more to his character beyond his persistent need to kill.

Dexter Thankfully Confirms The Next Sequel Show Is Avoiding One Of The Biggest Complaints About New Blood’s Ending
Dexter: Resurrection has confirmed the returns of a few original characters in the new sequel, fixing a complaint from New Blood’s finale.
Exactly what form that twist may take is yet to be revealed, though the challenge that Gareth presents may be the eventual discovery of Dexter’s identity. With Dexter’s invitation to Prater’s gathering based on him pretending to be the now deceased Ronald “Red” Schmidt, Dastmalchian’s Gareth could be the one destined to uncover the truth.
Dastmalchian’s character is likely already suspicious of his fellow killers, and that is only likely to be compounded once Harris’ Tattoo Collector goes missing.
Given that Gareth has already been presented as the most standoffish members of Prater’s society, Dastmalchian’s character is likely already suspicious of his fellow killers, and that is only likely to be compounded once Harris’ Tattoo Collector goes missing. In many ways, Gareth’s role in Dexter: Resurrection could potentially echo that of Erik King’s Doakes from the original show.
Our Take On Gareth’s Secret Twist
The Gemini Killer May Have A Connection To A Previous Dexter Villain
Beyond the Gemini Killer’s potential discovery of Dexter’s secret, even more tantalizing is Dastmalchian’s hint that he is also hiding his own. While it is only possible to speculate exactly what that may be, one exciting possibility could potentially link him to one of Dexter’s best villains, John Lithgow’s Trinity Killer.
With showrunner Clyde Phillips still hoping to give the Trinity Killer his own prequel series, it is likely that audiences will learn far more about Arthur Mitchell than what they already know. One possibility is that Dastmalchian’s Gemini Killer may even secretly be another of Trinity’s illegitimate children. Even Gareth’s moniker, which suggests that he kills in pairs, echoes Trinity’s modus operandi.
While this theory is little more than conjecture at this point, the possibility of Dexter having to face the son of Arthur Mitchell in Dexter: Resurrection would be a more than fitting continuation of the father-son dynamic already at play in the show.
