Dan Trachtenberg has been doing things with the Predator franchise that no one could have imagined just several years ago. After delivering the best Predator movie since the 1987 original with Prey, and following that up with the excellent animated anthology, Predator: Killer of Killers, and the upcoming Predator: Badlands, the director has now gone one step further and brought back two of the most iconic characters of the franchise in the most unexpected way.
Fans who have watched Predator: Killer of Killers on Disney+/Hulu since its debut will have to go and check it out again as, from 7p.m. PT tonight (July 25), a new deleted epilogue will be added to the film, which will bring Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Dutch and Danny Glover’s Mike Harrigan back to the franchise for the first time in over 30 years.

“One could easily imagine him up there in cryo, along with any other Earth champion of champions from other planets.”
While appearing at SDCC, Trachtenberg announced the new cut of the movie which will feature a scene that was shown during the panel. According to posts shared by Brandon Davis from the event in X, Schwarzenegger met with Trachtenberg to discuss his cameo and discuss continuing “to cook more stories with him.” It seems that even if Schwarzenegger does not appear in a live-action Predator movie again, there are certainly more plans to expand the animated arm of the franchise in the future.
Schwarzenegger’s Return to the ‘Predator’ Franchise Has Already Been Teased by Dan Trachtenberg – You Just Missed It
Dan Trachtenberg has already hinted at today’s announcement previously when discussing the existing final moments of Predator: Killer of Killers. The anthology expands the franchise’s lore in many ways, including the revelation that the Yautja keep those who win battles in suspended animation. Schwarzenegger’s Dutch is obviously one of those who won his battle, and Trachtenberg previously dropped a huge hint at his plans for the iconic star’s return to the franchise. He said last month:
“So the movie was made under the code name Warehouse, as that end moment was in the original idea pitch to the studio, and it felt like the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark. Certainly Arnold, like many others, was a survivor of his story, and one could easily imagine him up there in cryo, along with any other Earth champion of champions from other planets.”
Trachtenberg clearly has plans for the Predator franchise beyond those currently on the table, and a follow-up to Killer of Killers is now all but certainly top of the list. Talking of such plans, the director explained how he approached every project as his “one shot.”
“Certainly [each of my movies] are being made as if this was my only shot. Everything was thrown into it. Should we be able to do more… Certainly Killer of Killers seizes something, and Badlands [does too]. Hopefully there will be something more, but they don’t rely on the something more. Hopefully they are both cool within their own merits.”
The entire Predator franchise can be found on Hulu/Disney+ depending on your location, and we haven’t seen the end of the franchise by a long shot.
