New Call Of Duty On Game Pass Is A Major Embarrassment

New Call Of Duty On Game Pass Is A Major Embarrassment

For over a year, fans have demanded that the library of Call of Duty titles get added to Xbox Game Pass, and Xbox finally delivered with Call of Duty: WW2. The game was added to the service on June 30, and it’s one of the most criminally underrated entries in the series. Xbox seemed to give fans exactly what they wanted, but instead of a match made in Heaven, it was a match made in Hell.

While the game worked fine on consoles, Call of Duty: WW2 was a complete disaster on PC Game Pass. The dangerous security exploits remain unfixed, and Xbox’s response to the situation has me regretting buying COD on Xbox PC. Call of Duty has been Xbox Game Pass’s biggest problem for a while now, and the trend, sadly, continues with WW2.

Call Of Duty On PC Game Pass Is A Nightmare

A Terrible Shame

I was actually really positive about the Xbox PC ports of older CODs before WW2 released on PC Game Pass. It seemed the security exploits were plugged up, but the COD community was dead wrong. Call of Duty: WW2 still has the dangerous RCE (Remote Code Execution) exploits present in the Steam version, allowing hackers to run malicious code on your computer.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Absolutely Needs To Fix This Lingering Problem From Black Ops 6

Call of Duty has had a weapon loadout problem for a while, and one of the culprits involves excessive blueprints. Things need to change.

Not long after WW2 released on PC Game Pass, Microsoft quickly shut off the servers for that version of the game. It seemed that the servers would eventually go back up, with the security exploits fixed. However, that doesn’t appear to be the case.

After the servers were shut off, Microsoft then delisted the Xbox PC version entirely and removed it from PC Game Pass. This is horrible on so many levels.

I Regret Buying COD On Xbox PC

It Seems Xbox Consoles Are Still The Best Way To Play Classic COD

The first reason why it’s so terrible that Call of Duty: WW2’s Xbox PC version was delisted and removed from PC Game Pass is that it’s clear that the servers likely won’t be fixed anytime soon. If Xbox were actively working on the servers, then the game probably wouldn’t be removed in this manner.

To show how devastating the server closure is, according to TrueAchievements, 55 of the 90 total achievements in this game are now unobtainable.

Second, this means that people who have actually purchased the Xbox PC version or the Season Pass can now only play the campaign, as even solo Zombies is locked behind the servers. Frankly, I think people who just recently bought the Xbox PC Season Pass should earn a refund, as you can’t access any of the DLC content now.

Third, this is a dangerous sign for future classic Call of Duty games on Xbox PC. If WW2 isn’t fixed, that doesn’t look good for all the other titles, and if they get added to PC Game Pass, will the same thing happen? I personally bought many CODs on Xbox PC to play when the ROG Xbox Ally comes out, but if the multiplayer isn’t fixed, I deeply regret my purchase.

13 Years Later, This Groundbreaking Call Of Duty Game Is Still The GOAT

After 13 years, we finally have a sequel to the GOAT Call of Duty game with Black Ops 7, and after replaying the title, it’s still the best.

I was looking forward to playing my favorite title in the series, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, when that inevitably hits PC Game Pass, but after this situation with WW2, I’m staying far away from multiplayer. Unfortunately, due to Call of Duty: WW2 on Game Pass, future classic CODs on the service should only be played on Xbox consoles because of the PC version’s security exploits.
