Here is a roundup of the top Arsenal news, gossip and transfer latest from icfootballnews that we think you guys may have missed today featuring the likes of Yoane Wissa, Alexander Isak and Takehiro Tomiyasu…
Defender Takehiro Tomiyasu has opened up on the circumstances behind his early exit from ARSENAL after agreeing to leave the club 12 months before the end of his contract.
Tomiyasu signed for Arsenal from Bologna in 2021, after the Gunners scouts were very impressed with his performances over in Seria A, and went on to play 84 times for Mikel Arteta’s team, scoring twice.
Tomiyasu really struggled with injuries during his time at Arsenal and only made one appearance last season, which came against Southampton, but there was a feeling that he would be kept on by boss Mikel Arteta.
He told DAZN Japan: “It wasn’t a sudden decision to leave. First of all, I want to make it clear that my contract wasn’t terminated unilaterally, and I didn’t unilaterally say: ‘I’m leaving’.
“We had a proper discussion and came to the conclusion that: ‘This decision is best for me, for the club, and for everyone’. So I’m leaving. It all ended amicably.
“From my perspective, it’s the best timing. I’ll be free, and most importantly, the most positive thing about this decision is that it will allow me to focus on my rehabilitation and on myself.
“I was there for four years, but I only played five minutes in the 2024-25 season, and I spent a whole year in rehabilitation. I was under a lot of stress and anxiety. To be honest, I wasn’t feeling like I was there anymore, and I was wondering: ‘Is this where my future is?’”
‘After I decided to leave, I said my final goodbyes to the players, coaches, and staff. I went to the locker room or staff room one by one and said: ‘I’m leaving.’
‘As I said my goodbyes to each and every one of them, I was reminded that I was loved, and that was when I was able to leave.
‘I think that was a good thing. The players were surprised, too, as I still had time left on my contract and I was injured.’
WISSA WANTS MOVE
There has been some reports in the media this weekend which have claimed ARSENAL target and Brentford star Yoane Wissa wants to leave the club this summer despite the club being willing to open talks over a new deal, according to reports.
Wissa, who mainly operates as a centre-forward but can also play as a left winger, scored 20 goals for Brentford last season across all competitions and has been linked with a move away from the club all summer transfer window.

It’s reported that Brentford want at least £50m to even consider selling Wissa before the start of the 2025-26 campaign. Wissa has played a total of 137 Premier League games for Brentford to date, registering 45 goals and 13 assists
The 28-year-old DR Congo star was linked to Tottenham last month, with Spurs now under the management of former Bees boss Thomas Frank, but Tottenham have not made their moves and ARSENAL have been linked.
Now the BBC report that Wissa – who scored 20 goals last term across all competitions – would prefer a move away from Brentford this summer.
The news comes after Stuart Pearce recently claimed that Wissa would be a ‘major asset’ for the likes of Man United United and Arsenal if they were to recruit him in the current summer transfer window
‘There’s no doubt Manchester United and Arsenal would have been looking at Yoane Wissa,’ Pearce told BoyleSports, who offer the latest Premier League odds.
‘When you look at the season he had last year, he was magnificent. The goals he’s delivered while playing with width and playing down the middle as well.
‘That’s a major asset for any football club and the fact that Nottingham Forest have moved the odd player on recently, along with other sides in the division, you would think that by the time the season starts, he might well have moved on [from Brentford].’
