Zak Sturge has left CHELSEA and completed a permanent transfer to Championship club Millwall, the Blues have now officially confirmed on the club website.

The Blues posted on the club website: ‘Sturge joined the Blues in August 2022 from Brighton and Hove Albion and featured regularly for our Under-21s in his first campaign.

‘The defender gained senior experience during the first half of the 2023/24 season, making 15 appearances on loan at Peterborough United.

‘After returning to Chelsea, Sturge was named in the senior match-day squad for the first time and then helped our Under-21s reach the Premier League 2 play-offs.

‘Last season, Sturge embarked on his second loan when he joined Millwall in February. He made five appearances for the club, which he now joins permanently.

‘We thank Zak for his efforts during his time at Chelsea and wish him well on the next step in his career.’

Look, the lad needed to leave CHELSEA to fulfil his dream of playing at a professional level, it may not be the move that he would have loved, but Millwall are in the Championship, it is a good level.

It is a great decision from all involved that this move has happened and now he can move on from his troubles at Chelsea, he done what he could and will now have to make his name in the lower leagues.

REPLACE SANCHEZ CLAIM

John Obi Mikel believes Robert Sanchez must be replaced despite helping CHELSEA win the Club World Cup over the weekend in a stunning win against the Champions League holders PSG.

Sanchez not only lifted the Club World Cup trophy on Sunday evening but also the Golden Glove award, given to the standout goalkeeper over the course of the tournament.

The Blues have expressed interest in signing a new goalkeeper and John Obi Mikel believes Robert Sanchez must be replaced despite helping Chelsea win the Club World Cup.

‘People might say we had an easy draw but you still have to beat what is in front of you and we did that,’ Obi Mikel told DAZN after Chelsea’s victory over PSG.

‘We got to the final and we absolutely destroyed PSG. Not only winning this trophy but the money we will get from this will help the club massively in terms of FFP.

‘I’m still not convinced with Sanchez at all but let’s give him credit, he had a great game today, I’ll give him that.

‘I still believe we need a top, top goalkeeper. Sanchez a had brilliant game but going into new season, with the Premier League and Champions League, you still need a top goalkeeper.

‘This should give him good confidence ahead of the new season and hopefully we see a new Sanchez next season.

‘But healthy competition is important and we’ve seen that with the signing of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap.’

We have seen that one good performance over the course of a long period does not mean that Sanchez should stay at Chelsea, he cost the club last season and even though he impressed at the club world cup, he will struggle next season.

However – we have seen already that if CHELSEA want to sign somebody they will, and if they want a new stopper, they will get one.

XAVI SIMONS CHANCE

There has been some fresh reports in the media over the past few days which have claimed that CHELSEA are back in the chase to try and sign Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig this transfer window.

Chelsea had a very impressive season under Enzo Maresca last campaign and managed to win a trophy, but also managed to get inside those Champions League places for this upcoming season.

The transfer window has been very goof for the Blues already this summer window, and the club have improved in all areas of the pitch, but there is still alot of talk that the club will still seek to splash the cash and add a few more players to the side,

According to GIVEMESPORT, the Blues are keen on Simons and the player has already given indications that he is open to a move to the Premier League. A £60million bid is said to be enough to sign the Netherlands international.

The reports also claims that he has informed them he wants to leave and moves have been made by a number of clubs in order to wrap up a deal for the talented Dutchman.

Xavi Simons is a brilliantly gifted footballer with a great track record in each of his last three seasons. He is the type of player that Blues fans would love to see arrive in the coming months, he would really add some more quality to that Chelsea midfield.

If CHELSEA can beat the likes of Arsenal, Man United, and Bayern Munich to his signature, it would be a major coup. But meeting that £60 million asking price could be an issue as the Blues need to improve other areas of the pitch first.

Simons has options this summer, Chelsea would be getting a very good player that is for sure.
