Two Major League Soccer teams are back on the field this afternoon in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. In a mid-afternoon match, Inter Miami will take on Porto, while the Seattle Sounders will host Atlético Madrid later on.
In the first match, Inter Miami will be looking to get its first goal of the tournament. They fought to a 0-0 draw against Al Ahly in the Club World Cup opener in a match where it felt like they escaped with a draw. Their goalkeeper Óscar Ustari kept them out of the loss column with a 43rd minute save of a penalty taken by Trézéguet, but they will need need more than that against Porto. Porto also had a scoreless draw in their match against Palmeiras, which means no team in Group A has scored yet. Who will get the first one in this match and have the upper hand? Miami hopes they can be the one to pull a result.
In the second match, Seattle has some work to do to get a win and keep themselves with an outside chance at the knockout stage. The only player on a MLS roster to notch a goal so far at the Club World Cup is Cristian Roldan, who pulled one back for the Sounders in their 2-1 loss to Botafogo in their opening game. They will need more offense against Atleti side whose backs are against the wall after being torched by 2025 UEFA Champions League winners PSG. Seattle will be heavy underdogs in this match, but they will have another match at their home field to hopefully get the support they need to pull off the upset.
