There’s been plenty of noise online lately about Alexander Isak’s future, with Arsenal and Liverpool fans in particular getting a little too excited. Some seem convinced that we’re a selling club, ready to cash in on one of the best strikers in the league.
The reality? Isak isn’t going anywhere this summer.
Here are 10 clear and simple reasons why he’ll still be a Newcastle United player for the 2025/26 season.
1. Where would he even go?
Let’s be honest. Real Madrid don’t need him. Barcelona can’t afford him. PSG have pulled back from big-money signings. Arsenal haven’t won a title in 21 years and also can’t afford him. Liverpool have already spent big, leaving them highly unlikely to meet our astronomical demands this summer. And Man City already have Erling Haaland.
In truth, there aren’t many clubs out there who are both a step up and realistically in the market for a striker like Isak.
2. His contract runs until 2028
Isak has more than three years left on his current deal. Newcastle are under absolutely no pressure to sell. Even if a huge bid came in this summer, we could turn it down without blinking. There’s still time in 2026 and 2027 to think about offers if it ever came to that.
The club isn’t going to let him leave for nothing. He’s a long-term asset and treated like one.
3. We paid £63m+ and he’s now worth far more
When we signed him, the deal was £63 million plus add-ons, which we’ve probably triggered with the top-four finish and our recent cup success.
Why on earth would we let him go for £100 million now or anything just north of that figure? His value has likely tripled and he’s now Premier League proven, which is absolute goldust when it comes to young strikers with his all round gam.
Newcastle know what they’ve got on their hands and won’t let him go cheap.
4. He clearly loves the club and the city
In interviews, Isak speaks glowingly about life in Newcastle. He’s praised the club, the culture, and the fans on multiple occasions. You get the sense that he’s properly settled here and excited about where the project is heading.
“I’ve described how much I love this city, the club and how much I like it there“
“I am happy here and we’re contenders for titles, which is what you want as a football player. The chances are there (to win things).”
He’s not just here for a short stay. He’s invested.
5. Howe has helped him reach another level
When we signed him, plenty of people questioned the fee. Some labelled him injury-prone or a flop from his Dortmund days. But under Eddie Howe, he’s grown into one of the most complete forwards in Europe
He’s thriving here under a manager who clearly believes in him. That’s not something players walk away from lightly.
6. He’s already got silverware – and wants more
Isak came here to compete for trophies, and he’s already got one. This team is improving, the ambition is clear, and we’re on the rise.
He’ll know this is only the beginning. Why leave when you’ve just started winning?
7. Champions League football is already secured
Newcastle will offer him the one thing just about every top player in Europe craves; Champions League football.
After a trophy and top five finish, the momentum is with us, with the best journalist in the business (David Ornstein) claiming last month that he’s “going nowhere” if we secured UCL football, which we did.
8. He’s in line for the number 9 shirt and a new contract
With Callum Wilson likely to move on, the iconic number 9 shirt will become available. Isak is the obvious successor. Alongside that, he’ll be offered a new deal that makes him the highest-paid player in the club’s history.
He has the chance to follow in the footsteps of Toon legends and cement his place in our modern era.
9. The ownership is strong and ambitious
Our owners are some of the most determined and ruthless operators in world football. They won’t be pushed around in the transfer market, and they certainly won’t be letting a player like Isak go for anything less than top dollar.
If they don’t want to sell, they won’t. It’s that simple, and this appears to be the message from chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan.
10. He’s never shown any signs of wanting to leave
Everything Isak has said and done since joining Newcastle has been positive. He seems to genuinely enjoy being here and there’s never been a whisper of discontent.
He comes across as a team player, focused on the project, and happy to be part of it. That kind of attitude says a lot.
Alexander Isak is staying at Newcastle United. He’s settled, developing brilliantly under Eddie Howe, and helping lead a team that’s going places.
The idea that he’ll be off in 2025 is just wishful thinking from rival fans who don’t want to admit we’re building something special.
Let them talk. We’ll keep moving forward – with Isak leading the line.
