‘Ted Lasso’ Star Reveals How Many of the Original Cast Have Returned for Season 4

We’re Richmond ’till we die! Ted Lasso Season 4 is currently in development at Apple TV+, and fans are eagerly anticipating the new soccer season. Brett Goldstein, who writes, executive produces, and stars in the beloved comedy series, is bringing back his iconic character, Roy Kent, for another chaotic season… but he won’t be returning alone. The full cast list for Season 4 hasn’t been revealed yet. However, Goldstein has teased that more of our favorite characters will return than fans were originally expecting.

During an interview with Variety to promote his upcoming stand-up comedy special, as well as Season 3 of Apple TV+’s Shrinking, Brett Goldstein was asked about the pre-season training for Ted Lasso‘s fourth season. “Obviously, I can’t tell you a single thing about it,” the actor said, in a much calmer manner than his on-screen character, Kent, would have (and with a lot less swearing). While the actor/writer couldn’t reveal any story details, he confirmed that writing is underway on the anxiously anticipated fourth season, and he’s very happy with how the development process is going. “But we’re working on it, and it’s good.”

Fans are curious to learn what AFC Richmond’s line-up will look like for the fourth season, as the cast hasn’t officially been revealed. There are many actors/characters that fans are expecting to return, including Goldstein’s Roy Kent, Hannah Waddingham’s Rebecca, and Jason Sudeikis’ eponymous Ted Lasso (it wouldn’t be much of a show without him). But Richmond’s new starting 11 might feature more familiar faces than fans were expecting. Goldstein didn’t name any names, but he did tease that most, if not all, of the original cast members are back for another chaotic season. “It’s exciting to have everyone back together.” Ultimately, with Season 4 now officially in the ether, Brett Goldstein is just glad to not be asked about whether Ted Lasso will return in every single conversation he has with fans, joking, “That is such a relief.”

When Will ‘Ted Lasso’ Season 4 Be Released?

Season 4 of Ted Lasso is still in the development stage, with the writer’s room ongoing. However, one of the show’s returning stars, Hannah Waddingham, recently revealed when she will return to Richmond to film Tedd Lasso‘s fourth season. The cast won’t be waiting until the start of the soccer season to get back on the pitch, as the show returns to filming next month!

“We start shooting in July,” Waddingham recently revealed. The actress also remained tight-lipped about plot details. But she did tease that fans of the first three seasons will love what the show’s return has in store. “Our writers are literally Jedi Knights. They’re just incredible. And we’ve got like a full room of real feminist men. So we’ve got all the fabulous women there, and the men that are in there, and I think you really see it in the scripts.”

Ted Lasso Season 4 hasn’t been given an official release date. Although fans are expecting the fourth season to debut sometime in 2026.
