Ginny & Georgia has finally returned with its third season, and it was the best one to date. Sure, Season 1 and Season 2 tackled a lot of heavy themes, but they always carried this cringey undertone. This time around, the show feels much more mature, and it benefits tremendously from that. This, of course, also includes intriguing character arcs, and Season 3 of the teen drama series served up some insane developments.
This season transformed one specific character from likable to the worst ever. Yes, Nick (Dan Beirne) can be extremely annoying, Zion (Nathan Mitchell) crossed a major line by taking Ginny (Antonia Gentry) away from Georgia (Brianne Howey), and Gil (Aaron Ashmore) is, well, highly abusive and manipulative. However, Ginny & Georgia Season 3 revealed the worst character yet, and it’s a shocking turn of events.

Georgia’s Prince Charming
Paul Randolph (Scott Porter), the widely admired mayor of Wellsbury, caught Georgia’s eye the moment she and her two children settled down in the quaint town somewhere in Massachusetts. Some would say it was love at first sight. Others would say it was a classic Georgia move. Wrapping the wealthy, influential mayor of Wellsbury around her finger and knowing that being close to him would give her everything she ever wanted does sound a little fishy, but that’s not the point. We know how Georgia can be, but we love her anyway.
Unsurprisingly, Paul was immediately lost in Georgia’s beauty, unique spark, and go-getter attitude. Paul swooped in like Prince Charming, promising Georgia a fairytale life. It was straight out of a romantic movie when he assured her of his undying love and loyalty for her and both her children. Of course, he didn’t only take on the full “men of the house” role, but he also took his position as future stepfather very, very seriously. In his mind, he and Georgia were exactly alike. They were both willing to do anything for success, and he considered them the perfect match, a power couple.

They truly were a dream team for some time there, although Georgia sometimes went behind his back to help him with his position as mayor. He didn’t like it, but he sure liked the outcome of whatever Georgia put her fingers on. Their wedding day was the day that was going to change everything forever and make them the most loved and most powerful couple in Wellsbury, but it all went drastically downhill from there. In one of the most surprising moments in Ginny & Georgia, the happy bride was arrested for the murder of Tom Fuller, and it was the beginning of Paul Randolph showing his true colors.
Paul Turns Against Georgia
When Georgia’s criminal past went viral online, Paul distanced himself from her. Simultaneously, another extremely important relationship in Ginny & Georgia was ruined, leaving her even more broken. Instead of supporting her during this tough time, he judged her for it (despite not caring when her criminal actions benefited him). He detested her for pulling him down with her. Once he realized that it wasn’t looking good for him and that his status was suffering from Georgia’s downfall, he basically cut his losses. “Forever” suddenly lost its meaning, and the man saved himself. Well, he saved his job instead of his wife. Yikes.

Paul made some fair points when he suggested that Georgia was only looking out for herself during the trial and didn’t worry as much about his damaged reputation. It sounds like facing life in prison isn’t enough of a reason to focus on oneself for a brief second. Funny, since the bingeworthy Netflix TV show proves that Georgia spent the majority of her time in Wellsbury helping Paul to improve his standing in the community and improve the living situation in Wellsbury wherever she could. So, when his wife suddenly couldn’t solely focus on him and stopped playing his housewife and inferior colleague at the mayor’s office, he felt pushed aside. A relationship is a two-way street, but maybe dear Paul Randolph didn’t quite catch that.
