The United States Men’s National Team head to Kingston tonight for a pivotal Concacaf Nations League quarterfinal matchup against Jamaica. The USMNT play in the first competition under head coach Mauricio Pochettino and hope to once again defend the trophy that they have been the only team to hold.
The USMNT and Jamaica last faced each other in the Concacaf Nations League semifinal back in March. There, Jamaica controlled the entire game through the fifth minute of second half stoppage time, poised to win 1-0. In minute 6 of stoppage time, a Jamaican own goal gave the USMNT new life, and then Haji Wright was the hero in extra time with a brace to send the United States through with a 3-1 victory.
The last time the teams faced each other at The Office was during 2022 World Cup qualifying. In a reduced capacity crowd due to the ongoing Covid pandemic, the teams had a 1-1 draw with wonder strikes by Tim Weah and Michail Antonio. Now, the teams will fight for a win to carry back to St. Louis for the second leg, with a berth in the 2025 Concacaf Nations League Finals in Los Angeles on the line.
