USMNT weekend roundup: Dike’s big day

Here’s a bullet-point rundown of the USMNT players whose clubs were in action this weekend (Friday through Sunday). Players are divided by position groups (that helps my depth-chart-oriented brain to process this information most usefully). Within position groups, players are listed chronologically, in order of when their games took place. Stats are from FotMob.

Strikers

• Jordan Pefok played 65 minutes and created 1 chance in Reims’ 0-1 loss to Nice on Friday.
• Josh Sargent played the full 90, missed 1 big chance, and hit the woodwork 1 time in Norwich City’s 4-2 win over Cardiff on Saturday. Sargent was named Norwich’s Player of the Season on Friday.
• Daryl Dike played 62 minutes, scored, provided an assist, created another chance (2 total), and won the most duels (9) in West Brom’s 5-3 win over Luton on Saturday.

• Charlie Kelman played 75 minutes, provided an assist (video here), and created another chance (2 total) in Leyton Orient’s 4-1 win over Huddersfield Town on Saturday in EFL League One, England’s third tier. Leyton Orient finished 6th, and will be in the promotion playoff in hopes of reaching the Championship. Kelman (age 23) won League One’s Gold Boot, scoring 21 goals this season. The American striker is on loan from Queens Park Rangers, he joined QPR in 2020. Kelman has also been named in the EFL Team of the Season.
• Damion Downs played 61 minutes and created 2 chances in Köln’s 1-1 draw with Jahn Regensburg on Saturday.
• Folarin Balogun played the full 90, scored, and lost the most duels (10) in Monaco’s 3-1 win over Saint-Étienne on Saturday.

• Patrick Agyemang played 82 minutes, created 1 chance, missed 1 big chance, and completed the most dribbles (3) in Charlotte FC’s 2-4 loss to the Columbus Crew on Saturday.
• Brandon Vázquez played the full 90 and created 3 chances in Austin FC’s 0-3 loss to Minnesota United on Saturday.
