5 Moments That Have Destroyed This Controversial Love Island USA Season 7 Cast Member’s Reputation (Could They Still Win?)

5 Moments That Have Destroyed This Controversial Love Island USA Season 7 Cast Member’s Reputation (Could They Still Win?)

Huda Mustafa has been the most polarizing cast member on Love Island USA season 7, by a long shot, and her reputation may not survive.

Although Love Island USA season 7 has been rife with controversy, much of which did not involve Huda, her actions have been a dark cloud over the villa. It’s very unlikely she’ll win the show, and it’s easy to wonder why she hasn’t been sent home.

Huda’s reputation may be ruined, but she’s not the Love Island USA season 7 cast member with the most heat on her. Yulissa Escobar was sent home from the villa almost immediately after a clip of her using a slur resurfaced online. Unfortunately, the racism didn’t stop there.

Cierra Ortega was sent home extremely late in the game. Although the show’s narrator, Iain Sterling, said it was due to a “personal situation,” fans believe the reason is more sinister. Cierra also used a racist slur multiple times on her social media.

Because both Yulissa and Cierra were removed from the villa, Huda remains the most controversial cast member. Despite her actions, she continues to avoid eliminations, even when she’s not coupled up with anyone. Huda may be able to fix her broken reputation before it’s too late.

Huda Was Overly Possessive Of Jeremiah

She Started The Season Off Hot

Huda started losing the audience’s favor early on in the game due to her relationship with Jeremiah Brown. Although Love Island USA is a show about exploring new connections whenever a bombshell walks into the villa, Huda and Jeremiah were essentially closed off on the first night. Huda then got very possessive.

Every time a new bombshell made their entrance, Huda got visibly upset if they showed interest in Jeremiah. This was an especially crazy reaction, considering the bombshells likely didn’t know anything about Huda’s relationship. They had no reason to assume Jeremiah was taken.

The men of the villa didn’t like Huda’s possessiveness, either. Ace Greene and Nic Vansteenberghe often tried to get Jeremiah to change his approach to the game. Ace and Nic wanted Jeremiah to play the field, and they were suspicious of Huda’s intentions. Did she actually like Jeremiah, or was she just trying to win the cash prize?

Huda and Jeremiah’s relationship didn’t seem like the perfect love story. The two were incompatible, yet refused to see it. For example, Huda wanted Jeremiah to share his phone location with her in the real world, but he didn’t think that was necessary.

Plus, Jeremiah was nervous about Huda having a child. Huda’s reactions regarding Jeremiah turned the audience off, and her reputation has been hurt.

Huda Has Not Been A “Girl’s Girl” Like She’s Claimed

She Hurt Her Friends

Huda may claim that the women of Love Island USA season 7 are her friends and that she loves them, but her actions say otherwise. Huda has not been a girl’s girl, despite being mad at other cast members for, in her words, “not being a girl’s girl” either.

In fact, Huda has actively hurt her friends in the villa.

Huda was devastated when America voted to couple up Iris Kendall and Jeremiah, leaving Huda single and vulnerable. When Jeremiah neglected to comfort Huda in her time of need, she blew up at him. It didn’t help that Iris and Jeremiah were then sent on a date together.

Although the date was pretty typical by Love Island USA standards, Huda used the opportunity to make herself the victim. After asking Iris about the date’s activities, Huda complained to the other women about the new bombshell. Huda’s words were unkind and hypocritical, especially when she said:

“Iris moved so weird to me. She hides everything from the damn get-go. She’s over here, ‘I’m a girl’s girl,’ no the f*ck you’re not.”

However, since her relationship with Jeremiah officially ended, Huda has been treating the other women exactly how she didn’t want to be treated. Huda pulled Pepe Garcia for a chat in front of his partner, Hannah Fields.

Even though Huda claimed she and Hannah were friends. A true girl’s girl wouldn’t be disloyal to the people she claims to love.

Huda also elected to bring professional basketball player Chris Seeley back to the villa after Casa Amor. She claimed this was in order to give Chelley Bissainthe the opportunity to keep exploring her connection with Chris while remaining coupled up with Ace.

However, Huda also wanted to connect with Chris. If she wanted to be a girl’s girl, she shouldn’t have had ulterior motives.

Huda Allegedly Lip-Synced A Racial Slur

She Shouldn’t Have Posted That Video

Amid many racism allegations this season, Huda is the next Love Island USA star to be added to the list. According to The U.S. Sun, an old TikTok of Huda lip-syncing has resurfaced. The song contains the slur, and fans are accusing Huda of mouthing the racial slur.

The video seems to have been deleted, although many fan accounts have reposted it. It’s unclear from the video if Huda is actually mouthing the slur or simply leaving her mouth open. Regardless, with her reputation already on the line, this video has definitely fanned the flames.

Fans shouldn’t have to question if a reality star has used a racial slur. Huda didn’t need to make or post this TikTok in the first place. Racial slurs shouldn’t be tolerated, and Huda should have known better.

4

Huda Grinded On Chelley’s Partner Ace

She Took The Challenge Too Far

A major source of the season 7 drama came from the infamous Love Island USA heart rate challenge, where couples were tasked with raising the other players’ heart rates as much as they could. Unfortunately for Huda, that challenge damaged her reputation even more. It also severely fractured her friendship with Chelley.

While Chelley and Ace weren’t closed off, they had been building a relationship since the beginning of the season, and things were pretty serious by the time the cast participated in the heart rate challenge.

Chelley didn’t expect a lot from her friends, but she did expect Huda to extend the same loyalty Chelley extended to her. That’s not how the challenge played out.

Huda used the heart rate challenge as an excuse to grind on Ace. She believed her actions were typical of such a challenge, but Chelley disagreed. Chelley thought Huda took the heart rate challenge way too far, and the rest of the villa agreed.

Although Huda claimed it was just a challenge and didn’t mean anything, Chelley was hurt. After all, she and the rest of the women had avoided Jeremiah during challenges, out of respect for Huda. Why couldn’t Huda do the same for Chelley?

Huda Kissed Elan Bibas

Everything Huda Does Is Controversial

Love Island USA season 7 Casa Amor week with the cast sitting on the couch during a recoupling ceremony

When Casa Amor week started, each of the women were given the opportunity to kiss two of the Casa boys. For her turn, Huda chose Elan Bibas as one of her smooches. This caused a stir among the audience.

Huda is Palestinian-American, while Elan is Jewish. Rumors swirled that Elan was a member of the IDF, Israel’s military, although that rumor is unfounded. Some audience members were unhappy with both Love Island USA casting Elan and Huda’s decision to kiss him.

Huda has experienced controversy after controversy this season. Some of the backlash she’s gotten is valid, such as when fans have called out her hypocritical statements. Other times, the backlash is unnecessary. However, Huda will find it hard to rebuild her reputation regardless.

As far as reality TV villains go, Huda will likely be remembered for a long time. Her loud personality and questionable decisions have made for great TV, but the Love Island USA star may not like the reaction she got when she gets her phone back after the show. Hopefully she’s able to learn from her mistakes and grow from this experience.

Love Island USA airs new episodes daily (except Wednesdays) at 9 p.m. EDT on Peacock.
